About Kristin S. Jones

Kristin S. Jones is a licensed professional counselor committed to helping individuals obtain their mental health goals. Her therapy is strength-focused and based on cognitive behavioral theory. She believe that our thoughts are powerful and have a huge impact on overall mental health, especially when they are negative. In therapy her desire is to analyze those negative thoughts in order to develop a more positive perspective on life’s circumstances. 

She received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Howard University. She earned her Masters in Counseling from New York University in 2013. Following graduation, she worked for the non-profit, New York Foundling, where she provided therapy for individuals connected to the child welfare system in New York City. She provided therapy to prevent the separation of families and to aid with developing a safe home environment. She came back to my hometown of Atlanta in 2016 and continued to do family therapy. Kristin worked with adolescents involved with the juvenile justice system and helped them to avoid incarceration. In 2019, she began working in a psychiatric hospital where she specialized with individuals who were experiencing acute symptoms of psychosis. While working at Ridgeview Institute, she was able to serve individuals across the lifespan and was appointed lead therapist for the Adult and Older Adult Units. 

Kristin's career has been focused on helping individuals to adapt to challenging life circumstances and to begin the process of setting up their mental health for a better future. Her goal is to help her clients understand their mental health symptoms and then to develop functional coping strategies to address them in a healthy manner.
